International Women's Day 2025

Today, the whole world celebrates International Women’s Day. This symbolic day provides an opportunity to examine public and regional policies that form the essential basis for improving the circumstances of women in West Africa. This involves taking gender into account through inclusive policies. In line with its 2050 vision, ECOWAS is working to increase women’s participation in the economic and social sectors in order to reduce gender inequalities. In the fields of sport, youth and volunteering in West Africa, the ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre is contributing to this momentum through concrete initiatives promoting gender equality. Today, we can express our satisfaction by paying tribute to the women who distinguished themselves with exceptional performances during the 2025 editions of the ECOWAS Abuja International Marathon and the African Wrestling Tournament, held in March 2025 in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria. #InternationalWomensDay #WomenEmpowerment #WomenInLeadership #GenderEquality #WomenForChange
