The ECOWAS Volunteer English teacher, Iris Moiwo undertook a project at Services Secondary School, Juba Barracks. The primary objective of the initiative is to raise awareness among students about the crucial importance of planting trees in their communities. The project emphasises the collective responsibility we share in caring for and safeguarding these valuable natural resources for the well-being of both staff and students within the school. The project also aims to instil a sense of environmental consciousness and responsibility in the young minds of the students. By sensitizing them to the significance of tree planting, the volunteer hopes to contribute to the broader ecological health of the community as well as addressing Goal 13 of the SDG in combating climate change. In a commendable show of support, key figures such as school authorities, members of the school nature club, and other stakeholders actively participated in the occasion. Mrs. Aissatou, the EVP French teacher, in support of her colleague, took the opportunity to provide an insightful discourse on the importance of volunteerism.
